Maintenance

You might think that once you bought a computer there is no reason for to worry about maintenance.True, you will never have to give it an oil change, however you do need to keep it updated. Windows updates are one of the more critical maitntenance tasks, however there is much more than that! How about maintaining your hard drive? After all your critical data is located there and it is one of the devices that fails to most! Simple maintenance routines could alert you before you loose you important data.

Most of these maintenance routines are built into Windows and only require a simple setup. In most cases this can be done in less than one hour or $ 70.00 . How much are your files worth? Please note, a good maintenance routine won't guarentee your files are safe like a good backup routine can. However, a good maintenance routine will guarantee a faster PC with a minimum of problems including the loss of your important files.

Please be aware... good maintenance will not guarantee your data is safe, but it will minimize your down-time. Did you know data recovery can cost over $ 2,000.00! Yiks, let's not go there!

The old adage: You can pay me now or you can pay me later really adds up here. For instance, the simple act of keeping your anti-virus software updated can save you big repair bills not to mention your data. Other maintenance tasks can warn you if you are about to lose critical data on your computer. Yet other maintenance tasks can help keep hackers out of your computer. But if these tasks are neglected it can cost you more than the price of a new computer!   Like any other piece of equipment your computer/network must have some type of maintenance preformed on a regular basis. Many of these maintained routines are built into Windows and can be setup to automatically run on your computer. Along with PC maintained many network maintained routines can also be automated. However, unlike PC maintained network/server maintained must monitored by an IT professional.
